All Chicken & Egg Pictures programs are open to women and gender-minority documentary filmmakers globally.
While the barriers that prevent women from achieving equal access to funding and opportunities persist, understandings of gender have evolved, and so must our approach to achieving creative equity in documentary film. We want to empower all who have been held back due to systemic gender-based inequities.
That’s why we have expanded eligibility for our programs to include gender-minority filmmakers. This intentional shift required us to listen deeply to filmmakers of all genders, learn more about how gender bias intersects with other forms of prejudice and discrimination, and understand global differences in how gender is understood and discussed. We turned to experts at Reimagine Gender to help us further understand and navigate the shift towards becoming a more gender-inclusive organization.
