Jeanie Finlay (she/her) is one of Britain’s most distinctive and prolific documentarists, as well as a pioneer of creative distribution. Her award-winning films, made with steel and heart, tell intimate stories for international audiences. Her work is known for its emotional intimacy, pathos, and humor. Her feature documentaries for HBO, IFC, BBC Storyville, and others include Your Fat Friend; Seahorse; Game Of Thrones: The Last Watch; SOUND IT OUT; The Great Hip Hop Hoax; and Orion. Jeanie is a Chicken & Egg Awardee, and retrospectives of her work have been held at MOMI NYC, BFI, Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, and Criterion. She is a member of AMPAS, Bafta, and FWD Doc. She is currently making her tenth feature film.

Current Project

During her Chicken & Egg Award year, Jeanie will be launching her new film (title TBA) into the world and receiving creative support on the production of an untitled film about the place where she grew up–the northeast of England.
