SYNOPSIS

After a spate of mysterious illnesses and deaths, a community in Mexico discovers its water is radioactive. What unfolds is a story of resilience, conviction and the lies we tell ourselves about our dwindling resources.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Isabel Alcántara looks directly at the camera. Portrait in black and white.Isabel Alcántara is a Mexican documentary filmmaker with a background in photojournalism from the Newhouse School of Public Communications. In 2012, she and her brother co-founded Ponderosa Productions, a documentary production company. She was part of Chicken & Egg Pictures’ inaugural (Egg)celerator Lab—previously known as the Accelerator Lab, and is currently a BAVC MediaMaker and a Firelight Fellow. She has also shot photo and multimedia content for Paper Magazine and The New York Times, and is a staff writer for the GLAAD Award-winning queer website, Autostraddle.
