ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

thelionsmouth2d085Lucy Walker is a British film director who has twice been nominated for an Academy Award®. Her films include feature documentaries The Crash Reel (2013), Waste Land (2010), Countdown to Zero (2010), Blindsight (2006), Devil’s Playground (2002), and short films including The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom (2011). Lucy’s films have been nominated for seven Emmys®, and Independent Spirit, DGA, and Gotham Awards, and have won over eighty other film awards.

The Lion’s Mouth Opens premiered at Sundance 2014, and was one of the most talked about films of the festival. Filmmaker Magazine said, “the most emotionally devastating film at the Sundance Film Festival this year was a short.” The film won a Special Jury Mention at Aspen Shortsfest, Best Documentary Director’s Choice at Rincon, and was a Finalist at the Ashland Film Festival, and has been invited to screen at many notable festivals, including Sheffield Doc/Fest, LA Film Festival, and AFI Docs. The film has so far raised over $105,000 for Huntington’s Disease research. In development right now is a special page on the HDSA website where people can donate to HD research in Marianna’s name.
