SYNOPSIS

Children In No-Man’s Land is an award-winning documentary that uncovers the current plight of the 100,000 unaccompanied minors entering the United States. The film will give this timely political debate about the U.S./Mexico border a human face by exploring the stories of Maria de Jesus, 13, and her cousin Rene, 12, as they attempt to cross the U.S./Mexico border alone to reunite with their mothers in the Midwest.

 

 

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Anayansi Prado looks directly at the camera and smiles. She wears a scarf and has medium-length hair. Portrait in black and white.Anayansi Prado is an award-winning documentary filmmaker born in Panama. Her documentary films Maid in America (2004), Children in No Man’s Land (2008), and Paraiso for Sale (2011), have been broadcast nationally on PBS, and have won numerous film festival awards. Anayansi is a Film Expert on the U.S. State Department’s film program The American Film Showcase. She is also a recipient of a Rockefeller Media Fellowship and has received funding from The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, Creative Capital, and others. She holds a BA in Film from Boston University.

Children in No Man’s Land has received an outreach and community engagement grant from The Fledgling Fund, and ran a six-month campaign screening the film in states along the U.S./Mexico border.
